Tomboy Cam Swayne is determined that football hero Jake Phillips keep his eyes firmly on her. After all, she’s been his since before she was born.
Inspired by Taylor Swift country songs, this is a story of aching love and loss and learning to live through life in all its pain and glory.
This is the first YA book I have read in a long while, and I both loved and hated it at the same time. I loved it because the story is heartbreakingly beautiful. I hated it because it ripped me to shreds so much that I had to cling to my husband for a cuddle for a while afterwards. LJ Evans is unbelievably talented and has written Cami & Jake’s story to the tune of country music. I fell in love with Cami from the very beginning, you can relate to her teenage girl problems on a personal level and then when she tails after Jake we understand her love and pain. My life as a country album is a book that will stay with you forever. You know the ones you find yourself thinking about at random times during your life? This is one of them. Cami and Jake may be fictional but somewhere out there it’s possible that someone is living the life they have, and that is what makes this book so remarkable. LJ Evans is a writer in her own league and I cant wait to read My life as a pop album – although I’m giving my emotions a break before I dig into it!
